Subfloor in, more Blessing Bags made, some arts and crafts for the future residents of Soaring Wings Ministries ranch addition, and a surprise visit from the Deans. What a day!

By Emily M.… After construction wrapped up for the day, we returned to Fort Collins to begin the face-to-face portion of the homeless outreach ministry of Soaring Wings. I was nervous about this portion of our mission at first, as were several other members of the team. As Meredith, Ed, and Anita led us into the area near Catholic Charities close to downtown Fort Collins, my nerves disappeared. Each person we encountered was just that – a person.
By Emily M.Tuesday in Colorado brought more hot, dry weather and more progress on the construction site. Beyond construction, we spent some time assembling Blessing Bags with handwritten notes. We gave out those bags this afternoon as we engaged with the homeless of Fort Collins, Colorado, and that time clarified the mission that Soaring Wings Ministries is on.
By Emily M.Question: How does a family live in the desert with no water on their property? Answer: Good old fashioned prairie ingenuity and $4.25.
By Jim D.Dan pulled out ahead of me from the Budget parking lot in the pickup truck. I pulled up to the Budget attendant in our big van, eager to catch up with Dan. The young guy scanned the vehicle barcode then looked at me awkwardly for a moment, then said with a big smile on his face, “wouldn’t it be funny if I made you wait here a few minutes, then you can tell your buddy up there that you got held up because you were strip searched?”
By Emily M.Today was a long but wonderful day. We had beautiful Colorado sunshine beating - I mean beaming down on us as we set to the task of laying the foundation for framing the addition at Soaring Wings Ministries. A lot got done in a day, and the best news is that we are all still enjoying each other's company after a hard day's work!
By Jon H.Ed and Anita: Those two names have always gone together for me since I’ve known them as my youth group leaders. I can’t say one without the other because they make one incredible team, encouraging, leading and enhancing the lives of those around them.
By Emily M.Today we worshiped, relaxed, recreated and repasted together as a team, and it was a perfect counterpart to the frustrations of our travel yesterday. We feel strongly that the Lord is answering our prayers and is actively working for good here in the Fort Collins area. We feel a sense of unity within the team that is certainly God-sent. And we feel quite full and ready for sleep after hiking in the Rockies then enjoying a delicious barbecue meal. Tomorrow, we are up and at 'em early to start work at the Soaring Wings Ranch at 8am.
