It's great to be back at the Soaring Wings ranch, not only to continue work on the addition, but to visit with Ed and Anita, Meredith, Todd and Payton. Their love for people and commitment to serving the homeless is genuine. It's refreshing, and the joy and trust they have in God is palpable.

By Dan T.It has been two months to the day since the CO:MISSION team returned home from serving alongside Soaring Wings in Colorado, and as I write this, I'm on the second leg of my journey back to the ranch to continue the work our team started in August.

Look around you. Homelessness and poverty exist everywhere. If you are like me, you are feeling like you need to do something, anything, to help make a difference in the lives of the homeless. We are called to help. The homeless, "the least of these," are God's people and He cares deeply for them.
There are several ways to help the homeless in Fort Collins and closer to home. By Emily M.We got one of the walls up today! Praise the Lord. That is a huge milestone on the journey for Soaring Wings Ministries to build a house for a homeless family to call "home." Today we were also able to pass out more Blessing Bags before dinner with Faith Family Hospitality. We prepared a meal for three families who are in between housing situations and staying in a local church through FFH.
By Emily M.… After construction wrapped up for the day, we returned to Fort Collins to begin the face-to-face portion of the homeless outreach ministry of Soaring Wings. I was nervous about this portion of our mission at first, as were several other members of the team. As Meredith, Ed, and Anita led us into the area near Catholic Charities close to downtown Fort Collins, my nerves disappeared. Each person we encountered was just that – a person.
By Emily M.Today was a long but wonderful day. We had beautiful Colorado sunshine beating - I mean beaming down on us as we set to the task of laying the foundation for framing the addition at Soaring Wings Ministries. A lot got done in a day, and the best news is that we are all still enjoying each other's company after a hard day's work!
By Emily M.Today we worshiped, relaxed, recreated and repasted together as a team, and it was a perfect counterpart to the frustrations of our travel yesterday. We feel strongly that the Lord is answering our prayers and is actively working for good here in the Fort Collins area. We feel a sense of unity within the team that is certainly God-sent. And we feel quite full and ready for sleep after hiking in the Rockies then enjoying a delicious barbecue meal. Tomorrow, we are up and at 'em early to start work at the Soaring Wings Ranch at 8am.
By Dan T.At the end of June I spent a week in San Francisco for work. It was immediately clear when I arrived, even before I made it out of the BART terminal on Market Street, that San Francisco has a massive homeless population.
By Dan T.During our first team training meeting, we shared some of the reasons why each one of us chose to be a part of the missions team. Each one of us recognized the need answered the call of Christ to this specific service opportunity.
Over the past few years, I've had several experiences that have reshaped my attitude towards the homeless and were a big part of my motivation for joining the CO:Mission team. |
